ABS

ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) is a commonly used material in 3D printing, especially in the FDM process. The high toughness, impact resistance, and heat resistance of ABS make it ideal for manufacturing durable parts. ABS is particularly well-suited for parts that need to be robust and chemically resistant. The flexibility of ABS allows for easy post-processing and versatile applications in 3D printing.

ABS

Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer, or ABS for short, is an engineering plastic that often consists of a blend of the terpolymer with the pure hard component SAN. This combination allows for improved hardness while maintaining the same toughness.

ABS is a very easy-to-machine engineering plastic with outstanding properties. Its high toughness, impact resistance, and good stiffness make ABS a versatile material. Due to its high polarity, ABS is easily paintable and therefore widely used in aesthetic applications.

During processing, ABS softens at around 100°C and is well-suited for injection molding at temperatures around 230°C. These processing properties make ABS a popular material in various industries such as automotive, electronics, and household appliances.

ABS combines robustness and resistance to mechanical stress while remaining lightweight and dimensionally stable. These versatile properties make ABS an essential material for the production of housings for electrical appliances, automotive parts, components, and many other products.

As an amorphous thermoplastic copolymer, ABS offers high hardness, good scratch resistance, and excellent impact strength. The material is recyclable and proves its worth in prototype production through its ease of processing and high reliability.

The continuous development of ABS promises interesting innovations and applications in various industries in the future. ABS thus remains an important plastic with diverse applications due to its outstanding properties and processing capabilities.
